Automated speed cameras often prioritize revenue over real safety. Our focus must remain on effective measures that truly prevent accidents, not on technology that penalizes drivers financially. Ben Robin, a hardworking Louisianan, shared his experience, saying, 'If you caught me speeding, you caught me speeding, just pay the regular ticket price. I shouldn't have to pay $1,000 and have to sell the car to pay the ticket.' His words highlight the undue financial burdens imposed by high speeding fines. That’s why I am dedicated to repealing laws that disproportionately penalize working people. Together, we will continue to fight for a safer, fairer Louisiana where technology serves our interests, not the other way around. #RealSafetyRealPeople #NoToSpeedCameras #LouisianaFirst

Thank you Blake Miguez for helping to shoot down the use of automated speed trap devices in our Louisiana! Nothing says "revenue generating scam" as much as these mail-in fines. I would propose that you consider one additional step, that "any revenue collected on a state-funded road belongs to the state". This would not hamper the right of a township to enforce the law but it would certainly stop the ones out to make a profit at the expense of the working class in Louisiana.

How about considering the Jeanette Marshals on Highway 90!!!! They are not there for safety, only revenue.

Time to rectify the sins of the past chambers. This going through the pockets of our citizens needs to stop. Make no mistake about it. Higher fines, increased fees on everything state government puts it hands on is nothing more than theft. Thank you, for what you’re doing Blake!

Thank you Blake for doing what the people elected you to do , good Government

It not the speed it the idddddjits driving below the posted limit and or on there dam phones and watching videos!!!

Thanks for always working for us!

Traffic cameras certainly change driver behavior.

Agree, and cameras do not stop the speeding car in the act, an officer can.

I agree!

Didn't they remove the all the speed cameras in the state years back because the tickets didn't stand up in court.

Fastrak the left lane - users can purchase a monthly or yearly pass to drive in this lane at 75mph or what the road will allow. Everyone else use the right lanes.

How about getting our roads redone 335, and 82 are terrible

I am still against outside people doing what officers get paid to do. When you become a speed trap town or parish, you will have people driving around your town in order to get to where they are going. Look at Woodworth la. Pay your officers more to do their jobs.

Now can you work on these unconstitutional speed cameras in New Iberia? Ban speed cameras in the whole state.

No cop no ticket🎯

Yall get enuff of our check call taxes

I wish Blake still covered my distric

Something has to be done .. State Police does not have the resources to patrol the Basin ..

Very well said Senator Miguez I agree with you 100%. Another issue is multiple speed limits on the Basin Bridge.

Speeding has to be observed and clocked by police officers under statute

The rights to travel!

Camera enforcement is just another money grab brought in someone being paid by these private companies to extort revenue from the citizens. I thought all this camera enforcement was unconstitutional in louisiana which is why its been done away with everywhere. Makes as much sense as red lights on on-ramps, another stupid concept that came to Louisiana years after other states saw what a waste it was. This state is so far behind the times, its no wonder people are leaving in droves.

When the cams go up the people need to tear them back down...

You are so right . Someone’s friend is going to make a lot of money and that’s all they want . Thanks Blake for working for the people not special interest .

My daughter would get a ticket everyday leaving work because she would make a right turn on red which is legal in Louisiana. But the traffic camera would snap a photo every time.

Blake, since Roe v Wade was overturned, Republicans have lost every election where abortion was on the ballot. This does not bode well for Republicans. The GOP legacy One woman miscarried in the lobby restroom of a Texas emergency room as front desk staff refused to check her in. Another woman learned that her fetus had no heartbeat at a Florida hospital, the day after a security guard turned her away from the facility. And in North Carolina, a woman gave birth in a car after an emergency room couldn’t offer an ultrasound. The baby later died. Complaints that pregnant women were turned away from U.S. emergency rooms spiked in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, federal documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal.
